Jindabyne, the perfect base for visitors to the Snowy Mountains' winter wonderland of snowboarding and skiing, is around half-an-hour from Perisher Blue and Thredbo. There is a range of Jindabyne accommodation from caravan parks through to fully-serviced resorts.
Perisher Blue is the largest ski resort in the southern hemisphere. This super-sized snow playground is an amalgamation of four outstanding Australia ski resorts: Perisher Valley, Smiggin Holes, Guthega and Blue Cow Mountain, all on more than 1250 snow-covered hectares. A network of 50 ski lifts links seven mountain peaks and one ticket gives you the freedom to enjoy them all. Perisher Blue boasts Australia's best skiing and boarding. Located well above the the snow-line, there is always plenty of snow, whether it be natural or man-made (Perisher boasts 34.5ha of snow-making).
Thredbo - At the base of Mt Crackenback, within the boundaries of Mt Kosciuszko National Park, Thredbo is a re-creation of a European Alpine Village with a magical atmosphere and is the most famous ski resort in the Snowy Mountains.
Cooma & Eucumbene - Cooma is regarded as the main town in the Snowy Mountains region, Cooma was the central camp area during the construction of the Snowy Mountains River Scheme around 1950. Wadbilliga National Park is close to the town. It's a resplendent sight, filled with rugged mountain ranges, deep river valleys, pockets of rainforest and wide plateaus. Visitors are attracted to the nearby ski fields in winter, and to the cool, fresh air of the Snowy Mountains in summer. They enjoy Cooma's cultural heritage, and the town's natural attractions. Adaminaby is a poplular destination on the waters of the stunning Lake Eucumbene, a haven for excellent trout fishing. The existing town is just a stone's throw from the wonderful Snowy Mountains ski resorts of Thredbo and Perisher Blue, and a short drive from both Jindabyne and Cooma. Buckenderra Holiday Village is also a popular destination on the shores of Lake Eucumbene. The holiday village is about 5km from the cross-roads of the Berridale to Adaminaby Roads and Buckenderra Road.
Tumut region features huge inland lakes, clean streams, and gently sloped pastures to vast pine forests, peaked mountains & the enormous Snowy Mountains Scheme. Rivers and dams provide great trout fishing and the lakes offer endless opportunities for watersports. Tumut is one of the main bases for the Snowy Mountains Hydro Electric Scheme.
