Fifteen kilometres to the north of the Hobart CBD, the suburb of Berriedale developed around a coach stop on the original route from the Tasmanian capital to Bismark and Collins Creek. Today the suburb on the Berriedale Bay reach of the Derwent River is home to Moorilla Estate, the first vineyard to make major plantings of pinot noir, which is now Tassie's most successful red-wine grape.
