Phillip Island -
Phillip Island is Melbourne's holiday and recreational playground, located in Western Port Bay, just 90 minutes (140km) by road from the Melbourne city centre. The Penguin Parade at Phillip Island Nature Park, in which Little Penguins come ashore in groups, attracts visitors from all over the world. They come to see one of the few areas where this species of penguin can be seen. Another popular tourist attraction is the Seal Rocks, which host the largest colony of fur seals in Australia. San Remo is a town in southern Victoria in the Gippsland region approximately 122km south east of Melbourne via the South Gippsland Highway, opposite Newhaven on Phillip Island. Cowes is the main township on Phillip Island in the Gippsland region of Victoria. Gippsland Region -
The Gippsland region stretches from just east of Melbourne all the way to the state border with New South Wales in Victoria's far east, covering hundreds of kilometres of coastline and a rich collection of state and national parks.
